About Dr. Timm

You can't eat crap and expect excellence.

Meet Dr. Kara Timm

A native of rural Ohio, Dr. Kara Timm first began receiving chiropractic care after a severe electrical shock at age fourteen. She made an incredible recovery and very quickly decided that her original career choice of pediatrician would be replaced by becoming a chiropractor. She graduated from the prestigious Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and then moved to Tennessee where she eventually opened her own practice that focused primarily on children and expectant women. She also obtained certifications as a birth doula and childbirth educator.

Serious health issues forced Dr. Timm to close her practice in 2011, and several serious surgeries (with one being a brain surgery) then followed, and Dr. Timm had to learn to walk again and rebuild her entire balance system. After her son was born in 2013, she again began having serious health issues which included migraine headaches that left her bedridden and unable to care for her son, and this time she turned to acupuncture and functional medicine to get to the root cause of why she was so ill. She learned that she had several autoimmune issues that were being exacerbated by food allergies. She adopted a strict anti-inflammatory diet that included no grains, no eggs, no dairy, no soy, no nuts or seeds, no legumes, and no nightshades, and between that, chiropractic and acupuncture, she regained her health.

She then knew that her path was clear: she needed to study acupuncture and functional medicine and nutrition. She became Board-certified to practice acupuncture in late 2016 and opened her practice a short time later. She is currently pursuing Board-certification in Functional Medicine & Nutrition and is also an adjunct instructor for Purdue Global University. Getting to the root cause of her own health issues literally changed Dr. Timm’s life and inspired her career path, and also allowed her to rebuild her health enough to run a busy practice, become a triathlete, and most importantly, be the active, involved mom that her son deserved.

Invest in your health-you are worth it.

In a society where every event is centered around food, it can be so hard to make the needed changes to be a healthier person when temptation seems to be around every corner. It may be difficult at first, but I assure you that you can do it and that it’s worth it. And I am here to help you-I have been down that road myself and know exactly what you’re going through.

I consider myself a bit of a foodie, and that is a fairly new revelation. “New”, as in since I changed my diet back in 2013. And maybe that is because the term “foodie” wasn’t really tossed around until recently. Or maybe it’s because my relationship with food...

The AIP (Autoimmune Protocol) of the Paleo Diet
